Philadelphia Bar Association Releases Statement Celebrating the Jewish Community and Condemning Anti-Semitism

Philadelphia Bar Association Chancellor Jen Coatsworth released a statement celebrating the Jewish community and condemning anti-Semitism at the conclusion of Yom HaShoah and as the U.S. begins its annual celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month:

“During the week of Yom HaShoah, a day of remembrance for the 6 million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust, and as our country begins its annual celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, we stand with our colleagues at the Brandeis Law Society in celebrating the resilience of the Jewish people, calling for an end to anti-Semitism, and combatting hate through bonds formed across religious and ethnic lines.

“We can best honor the innocent people who perished during the Holocaust and celebrate the more than 350-years of contributions of Jewish people to American life by seeking to build a society and a world where there is no place for hate in any of its forms,” Coatsworth said. “We firmly believe that safeguarding the fundamental right of free speech can be achieved with fidelity to the rule of law and the rights of all students attending our local universities to feel secure and protected from any form of physical intimidation or harassment.”
